Officially declared Women’s History Month, the entire month of March is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of women, from events in history to events in our modern day.
As we closeout this very special month, we would like to share with you a motivating and inspiring story of one of our very own, Margie Salazar. As an El Paso native, Margie is truly a local success story - her hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Today, she is our Chief Financial Officer at FirstLight Federal Credit Union.
Margie began her journey with FirstLight back when we only had one location; she started out as a part-time teller and a full-time college student. Lucky for us, she chose to stay with the credit union, climb the ranks, and turn her part-time gig into a fulfilling lifelong career. She is a University of Texas at El Paso alumni where she studied business and applied her academics to her career at the credit union. She had the opportunity to work in several different areas of the credit union throughout the years and gained fundamental financial experience; both from her internal roles and by being a member herself. Margie is truly the personification of an El Paso success and an admirable example to all that El Paso can retain top talent to make our community better! She stands behind our mission of improving lives and achieving dreams and ensures that all decisions are in the best interest of the communities we serve. From part-time teller to credit union executive, FirstLight is proud to have her lead the way as our Chief Financial Officer.
